About Ocean Stories

Ocean Stories is a new visitor center in Honningsvåg, where you can explore life along the coast and the sea that provides us with food, work, and stories. Here, you can learn more about aquaculture, fisheries, and coastal culture through engaging exhibitions, guided tours, and activities for the whole family.

At Ocean Stories, we bring the sea to life through interactive exhibits, local flavors, and unforgettable experiences.

Grieg Seafood

Grieg Seafood Finnmark has been an important contributor to northern coastal communities for many years. With fish farms from Alta to North Cape, the company produces sustainable salmon for over 400,000 meals every day, supplied worldwide.

In collaboration with Ocean Stories, we tell the story of modern aquaculture: how the industry creates jobs, supports local communities, and delivers healthy seafood, all while working toward an increasingly sustainable future.

Through our partnership with Ocean Stories, we demonstrate how modern aquaculture contributes to local employment and the global seafood supply, while actively working toward a more sustainable future.

Our locations

Grieg Seafood Finnmark operates along the entire coast of West and North Finnmark. Each site plays a vital role in producing sustainable salmon and creating value in local communities.

  • Alta
Here you will find both the regional office and processing plant, as well as sea-based facilities that support jobs and activity in one of Finnmark's largest coastal communities.
  • Loppa and Hasvik
Small coastal and island communities where Grieg operates sea farms and post-smolt facilities. These locations provide jobs in areas where aquaculture is one of the key industries.
  • Hammerfest
A hub for sea farms and logistics, with support functions ensuring efficient operation along the entire coast.
  • Lebesby
A new smolt facility is currently being built here at a cost of 1.1 billion NOK, which from 2026 will increase capacity for robust post-smolt fish and create around 10 new jobs.
  • North Cape
Europe’s northernmost fish farm, where salmon grow under extreme natural conditions. Here, Arctic environments are combined with modern technology to produce high-quality salmon.

These locations form the core of Grieg Seafood Finnmark’s operations — from production to processing and distribution worldwide. Together, they generate local value and deliver seafood to markets in over 50 countries.
