Together with Magerøya Village, Arctic Lux, and students from Nordkapp Cultural School, we have transformed waste from local beaches into a colorful and meaningful art installation. The opening was marked with coffee, cakes, and warm words, setting the tone for a project that makes marine litter visible through creativity and community engagement.

Art Made from Beach Waste Highlights Important Collaboration at Ocean Stories

We celebrated the opening of our new artwork made from waste collected from beaches on Magerøya. With coffee, cakes, and kind words, we marked a meaningful partnership between Ocean Stories, Magerøya Village, Arctic Lux, and students from Nordkapp Cultural School.

The artwork is created by Emma Gunnarsson (Artistic Director at Arctic Lux) and Linda Hansen (Magerøya Village), in close collaboration with cultural school students Anniken Jensen, Sophia Yasmin Vasilica, Ronja Svane Kjosbakken, Darja Karpenko, and Dima (Dmytro) Nahovskyi.

The result is a colorful and thought-provoking installation that demonstrates how ocean debris can be transformed into art. Through creative expression, the piece highlights both the issue of marine litter and our collective responsibility for ocean life.

We are proud to be part of a project that combines environmental engagement, youth creativity, and local roots.
