Method

  • Slice the spring onion, and cut the apple and pickles into cubes.
  • Drain the herring and mix it with spring onion, apple, pickles, and capers.

Curry Sauce

  • Mix the ingredients for the curry sauce and season with curry powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Gently combine the curry sauce with the herring mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture into a jar or container and put on a lid.
  • Carrot caviar can be served freshly made.
  • The herring is keeps well in the refrigerator for about 1 week.

Tip:If you want to make everything from scratch, you can replace jarred pickled herring with fresh pickled herring fillets and prepare an vinegar brine.
