Hake Stew with Carrots and Leeks

Method

  • Cut the hake into serving pieces.
  • Finely chop the thyme, slice the carrots, and cut the leeks into rings.
  • Add water to a large pot or deep skillet with high sides.
  • Cook the carrots for two minutes in water with lemon juice. Then add the leeks.
  • Stir salt and pepper into the sour cream.
  • Pour it over the vegetables, crumble in a bouillon cube, and bring to a boil.
  • Add the hake to the pot and simmer on low heat under a lid until the fish flakes apart, about 10 minutes.
  • Serve the hake stew with boiled potatoes, a little extra thyme, salt, and pepper.

Tip:Sour cream can easily be replaced with light crème fraîche as a lighter alternative.
