Herring in tortillas with habanero sauce

This dish gains an extra kick with homemade habanero sauce. You can either make it yourself or buy it at Asian grocery stores. All our recipes are sourced from godfisk.no

Method

  • Cut the herring into pieces.
  • Preheat the tortilla wraps according to the package instructions.
  • Coarsely chop the onion, finely chop the cilantro, and squeeze the lime juice.

Sauce

  • Coarsely chop the onion, finely chop the chili and garlic, grate the carrot, and squeeze the lime juice.
  • Cook the onion, chili, garlic, and carrot with habaneros until tender in a saucepan.
  • Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth with lime juice, mango purée, vinegar, sugar, and salt.
  • Let it cool before serving.
  • Fill the tortilla wraps with Turkish yogurt, herring pieces, onion, cilantro, lime juice, and habanero sauce, then serve.

Tip:Habanero peppers are very spicy. If you can't handle very spicy food, you can use regular chili instead. Wear gloves when finely chopping habanero and avoid getting it in your eyes.
