Grilled Trout with Herb Oil, New Potatoes, and Cabbage

Grilling the trout on a cedar plank adds an extra depth of flavor. Served with fresh cabbage and herb oil, it offers a delightful taste of summer. All our recipes are sourced from godfisk.no

Herb oil

Method

  • Soak the plank in water for 30 minutes. You can also use oak, beech, or applewood if cedar is unavailable.
  • Pat the plank dry and place the trout fillet on top. Position the plank on the grill and close the lid.
  • Grill for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
  • Boil the potatoes and prepare the herb oil while you wait.
  • Near the end of grilling, add wedges of fresh cabbage and grill them alongside the fish.
  • Cut a lemon in half and grill it too. It adds a lovely sweetness to the fish afterwards.

Herb oil

  • Chop herbs and garlic.
  • Mix with olive oil, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

Serving

  • Serve the fish on a large platter on the plank, accompanied by grilled cabbage and a squeeze of charred lemon.
  • Drizzle with herb oil and enjoy the juicy trout alongside new potatoes, sour cream or aioli, and extra herbs.
