Breaded cod with mashed potatoes

Method

  • Divide the cod into evenly sized pieces.
  • Mix wheat flour, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  • Beat the eggs in another large bowl.
  • Place the bread crumbs in a third large bowl.
  • First coat the cod in the flour mixture, then in the eggs, and finally in the bread crumbs.
  • Cook the cod in hot margarine in a frying pan for about 4 minutes on each side.

  • Wash and peel the potatoes, cut them into large chunks, and boil them in unsalted water.
  • Drain the boiling water and steam the potatoes.
  • Mash them with a potato masher or fork, add liquid margarine, and stir in milk until the desired porridge-like consistency is achieved.
  • Warm up the mashed potatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Side Dishes

  • Slice the cucumber thinly – a mandoline can be helpful.
  • Cut the lemon into wedges.
  • Serve the fried cod with mashed potatoes, cucumber slices, lemon wedges, and a dollop of sour cream on the side.
