Cod Fish Balls

There are many recipes for fish balls, and the dish can be made with much more than just dried salted cod. TikTok chef Ole Sirnes has this recipe as a favorite, as they are made with cod and bacon, served with homemade tartar sauce and tomato salsa. All our recipes are sourced from godfisk.no

Method

Cook the potatoes until soft, peel them, and mash with milk and butter into mashed potatoes.
Cook the cod in water for about 4 minutes, then let it cool.
Dice the bacon into small cubes and crisp it up in a dry skillet.
Mix together mashed potatoes, cod, bacon dice, and finely chopped flat-leaf parsley.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Form into round balls and bread them first in wheat flour, then in beaten egg, and finally in bread crumbs.
Deep-fry the balls until golden in hot oil or a fryer.

Tartar Sauce

Combine egg yolk with lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and pressed garlic.
Gradually whisk in the oil, a little at a time, continuously whisking.
Stir in chopped pickled cucumber and capers, and season with salt.

Salsa

Cut sun-dried tomatoes into thin strips and finely chop garlic, shallots, and chili.
Mix all the salsa ingredients in a saucepan and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
Season with salt and a little sugar.
Serve the cod fish balls with tartar sauce and salsa on the side.

Tip:You can also use ready-made dip sauces if you prefer not to make your own.
