Creamed Fish with Plaice

Fish and vegetables with a delicious sauce, that’s creamed fish. Easy to prepare and a good dish that appeals to most children. This dish can easily be varied with other vegetables and types of fish. All our recipes are sourced from godfisk.no

Method

  • Cut the fish into portion-sized pieces.
  • Bring salted water to a boil and add the fish pieces.
  • Let the fish simmer until just cooked through, about 4-6 minutes.
  • Cut carrots, celeriac, and celery into appropriate pieces.
  • Cut sugar snap peas in half, broccoli into small florets, and spring onions into thick slices.
  • Chop the green parts of the spring onions and set aside.
  • Bring salted water to a boil and cook the vegetables separately until just tender.
  • Save the cooking water.

Creamed Fish Sauce

  • Heat melted margarine, stir in flour, and cook for a couple of minutes.
  • Dilute with vegetable cooking water to create a thick sauce.
  • Add cooking cream and let the sauce simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
  • Add more cooking cream or cooking water if the sauce becomes too thick.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Heat all the vegetables in the sauce and finally stir in the green parts of the spring onions and parsley.
  • Pour the vegetables and sauce into a deep serving dish and place the fish on top. Serve with boiled potatoes.
