Pan-Fried Trout – American Style

Americans are perhaps best known for eating lots of meat, but they also love fish – especially trout. Try this recipe inspired by American dishes – it’s quick, simple, and tastes incredibly delicious. All our recipes are sourced from godfisk.no

Ingredients

Potato Salad

Spice Mix

Method

  • Cut the trout fillet into serving pieces.
  • Mix together sugar, chili powder, cumin, thyme, salt, and olive oil.
  • Brush the trout pieces well on both sides with the spice mixture.
  • Cook the pieces in a hot pan with oil for about 4 minutes. Start with the skin side down and turn the fish after a couple of minutes.

Potato Salad

  • Boil the potatoes until tender and cut them into smaller pieces.
  • Chop the spinach, slice the radishes, finely chop red onion, and coarsely chop dill.
  • Mix the potatoes with spinach, radishes, red onion, dill, sour cream, mayonnaise, and grated horseradish.
  • Serve freshly cooked trout with potato salad on the side. Feel free to garnish with some fresh herbs.

Chef’s tip: If you have access to a grill, it’s perfect to grill the fish on a grilling plank. Very American!
