Portuguese Fish Stew

A delicious, steaming pot with cod and ingredients inspired by Portuguese cuisine, but this recipe is quicker than the traditional Bacalhau with salt cod. All our recipes are sourced fromgodfisk.no

Method

  • Cut the cod into serving pieces.
  • Cut the bacon into approximately 2 cm pieces, the onion into rings, and finely chop the garlic.
  • Cook the bacon in a dry pot until it turns golden brown.
  • Add the onion and garlic, and sauté in the bacon fat until the onion is translucent.
  • Dilute the fish stock with water.
  • Add canned tomatoes and fish stock, bring to a boil, and season with pepper.
  • Place the cod fillets in the pot. Sprinkle with salt and squeeze some lemon over the fish.
  • Cover and let simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the cod is cooked through. If the fish is very cold, it may take longer.
  • Serve the stew with rice, bread, and olives.
